BALTIMORE, Md. — While many waited for midnight to watch the ball drop in Times Square, some families here took a sweeter and earlier route.

The Charmery took over Union Collective Monday night for a much earlier ball drop of its own!

The beloved ice cream shop’s Kiddie Scoop Ball Drop means early, family fun and lots and lots of ice cream!

“We know that midnight seems to be getting later and later every year so we are thrilled to do something for the community,” said owner, David Alima.

Parents like Desiree Rowe and appreciative for the chance at holiday family time without disrupting bed time!

“We would be going to be early anyway so this is an awesome idea to have the ball drop at 8.”

So the little ones can enjoy New Year's Eve with friends and family, while mom and dad enjoy some live music, an adult beverage!

“It's a great opportunity to enjoy a ball drop early in the evening all with things that children enjoy like music and ice cream,” said parent, Kevin Bressner who brought his kids to the event.

The Charmery's ice cream factory was the scene for the action and that means more room for a lot of people, a band and even a craft beer station!

The star of the hour was definitely the signature malt shake which came complete with a noise maker and homemade marshmallow! and of course, the grand finale ball drop at 8 pm! Four hours before 2019!

This is the fifth year for The Kiddie Scoop ball drop. The owners hope to make it even bigger next year!
