Sagamore Spirit opens new distillery, offers public tours

Sagamore Spirit opens its new distillery Thursday in Port Covington.

The distillery will be open to the public for tours every half hour between 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Tours last around 45 minutes.

Visitors can enjoy live music, corn hold, lawn games and food trucks.

The visitor center will be open between 9:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. daily.

Under Armour Founder Kevin Plank started selling his Maryland rye whiskey last year. From now on, all Sagamore Spirit production will be handled in Port Covington, where Under Armour is planning its new world headquarters.

Thursday's ribbon cutting ceremony will start at 10 a.m. Governor Larry Hogan, Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh, Sagamore Spirit Co-Founder Bill McDermond and Sagamore Spirit President Brian Treacy will give remarks at the event.

Sagamore Spirit's distillery is located at 301 E. Cromwell St.
