Update: A man is killed by Baltimore police after they tried to arrest him Tuesday night in Southeast Baltimore.

According to Police Commissioner Richard Worley, officers were called out to Bank Street in Highlandtown around 9 p.m. for reports of an armed man threatening a person.

Officers found the suspect on a bike along Eastern Avenue. The man tried to get away but officers tackled him to the ground.

At some point during the tussle, Worley said the suspect got a hold of a weapon and fired it. Worley did not say whose weapon he used. The officers backed off and two of them fired their weapons, hitting and killing the man.

Worley said the suspect's firearm was recovered.

The Independent Investigation Division of the Attorney General's Office is looking into the incident, as it does with every officer-involved shooting.

This is the second shooting involving police this week. On Monday, a woman was injured when police shot her at an apartment complex in Bolton Hill. Investigators said she was armed with a knife and experiencing a mental health crisis.
