Police didn't have to go too far to catch a would-be robber Sunday.
Officials say a uniformed officer was inside the Royal Farms store in the 2000 block of Fleet Street at approximately 12:10 a.m. when 30-year old James Smith Jr. entered and pulled out a BB gun.
Smith didn't see the police officer inside the store and announced a robbery, according to police. The officer placed Smith under arrest and a BB gun was recovered from the suspect.
Smith, of the 200 block of S. Spring Court, was transported to the Central Booking and Intake Facility.
