BALTIMORE — In an abrupt turn around, a newly announced hire by the Baltimore Police Department will not be joining the agency, the department announced Wednesday, a day after a press conference publicly introducing two new hires.

Tuesday, Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael Harrison announced Michelle Wilson will join the BPD to oversee the Public Integrity Bureau or Internal Affairs office. By Wednesday, it was announced she won’t be assuming that role.

“Michelle Wilson will not be joining the Baltimore Police Department,” a statement from the Baltimore Police Department’s Media Unit said. “Because this is a personnel matter, and based on the advice of the city solicitor, we cannot comment further.”

Wilson comes from the Maryland Office of the Attorney General, where she was an Assistant Attorney General. She earned her law degree from the University of Maryland School of Law.
