It started with a family friend up in Philadelphia.

Now a mom and her kids in Maryland are rolling out a pink lemonade stand all in the name of breast cancer research.

Casey Herrfeldt and her sons are carrying the torch, popping up the latest lemonade stand in the country.

Every dollar raised goes to the breast cancer research foundation.

Herrfeldt says breast cancer has a wide affect, and wanted to find a way to give back;

"This affects our moms, and our sisters, and our daughters, and our best friends. So we wanted to do whatever we could to put an end to it. And it was also a great easy way to teach my kids about giving back."

According to breastcancer.org, one in eight women are impacted by the disease.

The ultimate goal for the lemonade stands is to open 20 stands in 20 states and raise $50,000

Currently,  there are about 15 stands nationwide including up and down the east coast,
Washington State and even Alaska.
