Former DOJ employee James Cicala, 55, of Columbia was sentenced to seven years in prison followed by 15 years of parole for traveling to have sex with a minor.

He was also ordered to register as a sex offender.

Last year, Cicala placed multiple ads in the Delaware, Maryland and District of Columbia editions of an online marketplace, looking for girls to engage in “daddy-daughter” relationships.

On August 15, 2015, he was arrested when he arrived to meet an undercover detective posing as a 15-year-old girl named “Syndey."

Cicala is no longer employed by the agency.
