Business collects donations for families displaced by Highlandtown fire

The Pig and Rooster Smokehouse is collecting donations for the families displaced by an early morning fire in Highlandtown. 

Donations will be collected beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday during Uinta Beer Bingo. 

The Chasseur will also collect donations Wednesday from open to close.

At approximately 3:45 a.m. Tuesday, crews responded to the 100 block of S. Eaton Street in Highlandtown for reports of a house fire. 

Units worked to extinguish the blaze, but it spread and consumed 14 rowhomes, according to fire officials.

The American Red Cross of the Greater Chesapeake Region said it has assisted 31 residents who were displaced from their homes.
