Baltimore replacing MLK day parade with a Day of Service

Posted

Baltimore is changing how it celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King Junior's legacy. Now rather than a parade, the city will honor King's life with a day dedicated to serving local communities.

Mayor Catherine Pugh will host the inaugural Day of Service January 15, 2018. Residents are encouraged to emulate Dr. King by volunteering in their neighborhoods to show leadership and compassion.

Officials say the parade has been accompanied by a day of service in the past.
