BALTIMORE — Baltimore officials are working to make the city a safer place for its residents and visitors.

On Monday, Mayor Jack Young and Commissioner Michael Harrison outlined a few of their safety related initiatives they have planned. They highlighted the five areas that make up the city's crime prevention, intervention, enforcement, re-entry and rehabilitation.

The Baltimore City Police Department is also working on providing officers and staff new and updated technology and equipment.

"We're also in the process of reviewing our record management system options," Harrison said. "This is an important step in bringing the police department's technological capabilities into the 21st century digital environment."

Harrison also talked about the importance of gaining the public's trust so more witnesses will come forward.
