Baltimore City officials estimate repairs to the collapsed 26th Street with cost $18.6 million, paid for, by now, by the city.
But the head of the city’s Finance Department said there will be “no impact on taxpayers.
“In essence we believe based on our lost recent budget projections that we will have sufficient funding sources available to cover the cost here,” Harry Black, director of finance, said.
The road collapsed on May 1. Since then, crews have worked to shore up the steep slope.
The city is hoping to recoup the costs of the repairs from CSX.
