BALTIMORE — Baltimore City Rec & Parks is closing its Rec2025 strategic plan to begin a new phase in 2026 - The Playbook.
Since the start of this plan in 2020, Rec2025 has yielded the renovation of 25 playgrounds as well as the opening of seven rec centers and seven pools.
"We have always needed a strategic plan for Recreation and Parks," says Mayor Brandon Scott.
"'Rec 2025' was the ground playing floor, but now we're going to unveil 'The Playbook' in 2026, a strategic plan designed to meet the long-term recreational needs of Baltimore City."
According to Reginald Moore, Director of Baltimore City Rec and Parks, 'The Playbook' is a 10-year plan which will build on the progress the city has already made.
"We're currently renovating two rec centers, Chick Webb and Mary Rodman Recreation Center," Moore says.
Four new recreation centers are currently under construction and are slated to open in 2026: Parkview, Gardenville, Bocheck Gymnasium, and Congressman Logic Commons. And we will open another pool in 2026, Greater Model Aquatics Center."
In essence, this new plan is part of a continued investment to ensure everyone living in Baltimore has access to quality recreational facilities.
