ANNE ARUNDEL — Anne Arundel County Police are warning the public of unauthorized GoFundMe pages created for the two detectives who were shot in the line of duty this week.

Police say the GoFundMe pages are not connected to the families of Detective Ballard and Detective Preece.

While they appreciate the support, officials say if the families request any such support, the Anne Arundel County Police Department will publicize it through their website and social media channels.

Joseph Robert Mitchell Willis, 22, of Pasadena was arrested and charged with the murder of 44-year-old Christopher Lawrence Jones and attempting to murder a police detective.

Both detectives were taken to the hospital. Ballard is in critical but stable condition. Preece, a 13-year member of the department's Homeland Security Unit is listed as stable. Neither officer fired their weapon.
