Police identify victim in Anne Arundel Co. bus crash

Anne Arundel County Police released the name of the person who died after a car collided with an MTA bus in Curtis Bay Thursday afternoon.

The driver of the Impala, Corey James Ferrell, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was 22-year-old.

One passenger in the car was taken to Shock Trauma with serious injuries. Police identified the victim as 24-year-old Jakob T. Quasney.

Police said the crash happened around 4:20 p.m. at Fort Smallwood Road near Brandon Shores Road.

The driver of the bus, 30-year-old James R. Owens Jr. was not injured. There were no passengers on the bus.

Anne Arundel County Police said excessive speed by the driver of the Impala may have contributed to the crash.

The primary cause of the accident is still under investigation.
