The family of a man hit and killed by a truck while doing landscaping at a memorial in Annapolis have launched a fundraising page to cover funeral and travel costs.

The accident happened Monday morning when a pickup truck left Rowe Boulevard, went over a curb and hit 39-year-old Mario Salmeron of Edgewater, who was working for a landscaping company at the Maryland Fire-Rescue Services Memorial, Annapolis police said.

According to the Go Fund Me page created by his family, wanted to be buried in El Salvador next to his father.

"Our family wants to raise money to cover his funeral service cost, and travel expenses for this trip. We want our family all to fly out and be with both parts of the family and say goodbye to our father," The page states.

The family also hopes to start a college fund for the two youngest of Salmeron's seven children.

Additional details can be found on the Go Fund Me page here.
