AACo opens public boat ramp in Pasadena

Anne Arundel County Executive Steve Schuh today dedicated the first county-operated, trailered boat ramp at Fort Smallwood Park in Pasadena Monday. 

The $4.5 million project will allow residents to launch boats from the park seven days a week.

“Expanding water access is a key priority of my administration,” Schuh said in a news release. “

Schuh also announced that the county would be opening the beach at Fort Smallwood Park Beach to swimming Memorial Day weekend. 

The 2016 budget funded several projects aimed at increasing water access to Anne Arundel residents, including: 

  • $375,000 for Fort Smallwood Park to support the completion of the boat ramp and fishing pier.
  • $268,000 to increase overall water access, including funding for roads, parking, piers and stabilized launches.
  • $590,000 for boat ramp development, with eight sites under evaluation.
  • $172,000 in the planning money for South County Regional Parks, Mayo Beach Park, Beverly Triton Beach Park and South River Farm Park.
