Anne Arundel County has not built a new school or park in the North County area for years, but that could soon change.

Executive Steve Schuh announced Thursday that the county wants to purchase a more than 100 acre property off Bell Grove Road in Brooklyn Park. The land is five miles from Port Covington in Baltimore City.

"This is a game changer," Schuh said at a press conference. "This may be the biggest thing to happen in this part of the county in the last 50 to 100 years."

Schuh has proposed $28 million in his FY 2019 budget to purchase land for schools, parks and other public assets.
