WASHINGTON, D.C. - — The U.S. Navy plans to build a new National Museum of the U.S. Navy in Washington, D.C. The new campus-style museum is meant to honor the service of American Sailors and enhance the public's understanding of the Navy's history and heritage.

The new museum will have interactive displays and 4D theatre presentations. It will also have icons of naval history and there will be no fee to visit the museum.

The location for the new museum hasn't been finalized, but the ideal site for it is the Washington Navy Yard. A groundbreaking event for the new museum is expected to happen in the year 2023.
