ROCKVILLE, Md. (WMAR) — Two elderly women are dead after the car they were riding in collided with a tree.

It happened Saturday, just after 11:35 a.m., around the intersection of N. Washington Street and Beall Avenue in Rockville.

Montgomery County Police say 80-year-old Cheung Foo Chan of Hyattsville was driving east on Beall Avenue, when he made a right turn on N. Washington Street, lost control, and struck a tree.

Chan was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

The front seat passenger, 72-year-old Janice Luk Chan, and rear passenger, Man Kei Tam Yuen, 83, both died at area hospitals.

It's unclear what caused Chan to lose control of the vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to call investigators at 240-773-6620.
