BALTIMORE — An iconic Baltimore restaurant says it cannot survive on solely carryout.

The Mt. Washington Tavern announced Monday on Facebook that they would be closing their doors, until the city lifts indoor dining restrictions.

After having to close down all dining for a second time in 2020, it just became too much.

"It’s been challenging as we’ve oscillated between being able to open for inside dining, outside at the Skybar, and then carryout only," the Tavern posted. "We’ve done our best to pivot, offering special to-go drink kits, family meal packages, delivery, and outside dining along Newbury Street all while observing strict COVID-19 safety protocols and increased restrictions."

The Restaurant Association of Maryland recently challenged Mayor Brandon Scott's dining ban in court, but a City Circuit Court Judge refused to overturn the restrictions.
