ANNAPOLIS, Md. — A 21-year-old Stevensville man has been sentenced after admitting to tossing a duckling out of a moving car on the Bay Bridge in April.

Anne Arundel County Judge Mark Crooks ordered Ethan Fowler to serve five years probation and handed down a one year suspended jail term.

Maryland Transportation Authority Police began investigating on April 19, when they were made aware of a four second Facebook video that showed a laughing man driving on the Bay Bridge and throwing a baby duckling out the window.

"Abusing defenseless animals is an intolerable act," said Anne Arundel County State's Attorney Anne Colt Leitess.

Local veterinarian, Dr. Benjamin Reichenbach, told the state that the duckling likely died from being thrown over the bridge.
