Man killed in US-15 crash in Frederick

FREDERICK, Md. — A 31-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle accident in Frederick after trying to cross US-15.

On Monday at about 6:02 p.m., troopers from the Frederick Barrack responded to a two vehicle accident on southbound US-15 in the area of Mountville Road.

The crash involved a Mazda 3, and a Dodge 3500 which was hauling a trailer loaded with vehicles. The initial investigation determined that the driver of the Mazda, Arik Knapp, was traveling north on US-15, and trying to cross US-15 South, to continue onto Mountville Road.

Troopers stated the Mazda 3 was hit by the Dodge 3500.

Knapp was taken to Washington Medstar Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The passenger of the Mazda 3 was taken to Children’s National Hospital for serious injuries and the driver of the Dodge 3500 was transported to Frederick Memorial Hospital.
