Man critically injured in Essex after being shot; police seeking more information on suspect

ESSEX, Md. — Police are investigating an early morning shooting in Essex that left a man critically injured.

The victim, 47, was leaving for work in the 1200 block of South Marlyn Avenue, around 2:58 a.m. Wednesday morning when he had some sort of encounter with the suspect. During the encounter the victim suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body.

The victim was transported to an area hospital. His condition is unknown. The suspect fled the location prior to police arrival.

Police are asking neighbors to check any exterior cameras they may have and contact police with any possible information.
