LAUREL, Md. — Howard County police have arrested a man accused of hitting a woman with a car, and kidnapping her from a McDonald’s parking lot earlier this week.
It happened just before noon, Wednesday in the 10000 block of Washington Boulevard in Laurel.
Steven Dontrell Smith, 27, was arrested Friday in Washington, D.C. and now faces charges of attempted murder, assault, and kidnapping.
The 27-year-old victim who knows Smith, was also located and treated at a hospital for minor injuries. Her name is being withheld.
Over the last couple days, police released two surveillance videos of the assault on social media.

That led to a tip Thursday which guided police to the vehicle used in the crime.
Detectives were then able to identify Smith as the suspect. Turns out the car, an Audi Q5, was stolen from another state in July.
Police say Smith and the victim were initially fighting inside the car. Video evidence shows the vehicle briefly leaving the area before returning and driving directly at the victim, striking her and another car.
Smith then gets out of the car and drags the woman back inside before fleeing.
