SAWNTON, Md. — A long running feud between brothers-in-law in Garrett County ended in one's death Saturday.

Maryland State Police were initially called July 30 to the 800-block of Brant Road for a fight.

Officers found 63-year-old Stephen Savage, lying on the ground injured.

He was taken by helicopter to Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.

On scene, police spoke with Savage's 56-year-old brother-in-law who lives at an adjoining property.

There was evidence suggesting the two had been in a fight and that Savage may have attacked first.

On Saturday, detectives got word Savage had died at the hospital. An autopsy will determine the official cause of death.

The brother-in-law's name isn't being released, as he hasn't been charged.

Investigators believe both men had a long running feud with each other, though they would not go into detail.

The case is under review by the Garrett County State's Attorney's Office.
