Investigation surrounding two women killed continues

BALTIMORE — Baltimore City police continue to investigate the shooting death of two women on the city' southwest side. So far, their names have not yet been released.

It is the second night in a row two women were shot to death in the southwest district of the city.

On Monday night, police responded to West Pratt and South Carey Street after a receiving an alert from a Shot Spotter.

According to police, one woman was found in the 1300 block of West Pratt Street with multiple gunshot wounds. She was taken to an area hospital but did not survive.

Another woman was pronounced dead in the 200 block of South Carey Street.

"It’s concerning that right on my block two women were gunned down last night," said one woman who asked not to be identified. "It’s just concerning as a woman and as someone who cares for other women."

Baltimore City Police told WMAR-2 News 50 women have been killed this year, not all were a result of gun violence.

In a statement to WMAR, City Councilman John Bullock said "We are extremely troubled by these recent acts of violence in the neighborhood. While details are still unfolding, our office will remain in contact with Southern District police who are investigating."

On Monday, there were a total of four homicides in Baltimore City and a total of eight people shot.
