PIKESVILLE, Md. — A husband and wife team of firefighters helped put out flames at a neighbor's home over the weekend.

Kathleen Resnick, a nurse at a local hospital and her husband ,Glenn, a local business owner have served for decades with the Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company.

The couple was eating breakfast at their Pikesville home, when they received an alert that a home, a block away from them was on fire.

They immediately called their fellow volunteers at Station 32 to bring their equipment, and rushed to the scene.

Turns out the home belonged to a family the Resnicks knew pretty well and actually just saw.

"I realized it was the house of a family [Howard and Amy Mazer], who had just been visiting with our son Danny (also a PVFC firefighter) at our house 15 minutes earlier,” Glenn Resnick said.

Luckily the entire Mazer family made it out safely.

While the home ended up being badly damaged, it's not a total loss.

“I felt immediate relief when I saw Glenn,” Mazer added. “I knew he had no equipment with him at the time and that he could not put the fire out himself, but felt relieved that someone who knew what to do was there.”
