ELKRIDGE — 15 people and several pets were displaced after an apartment fire in Elkridge.
Firefighters responded to the 6300 block of Greenfield Road on Tuesday, where a third-floor balcony and apartment were on fire.
Officials said the residents were able to evacuate before crews arrived.
Fire officials said the fire reached the roof and crews safely exited the structure and are operating from the outside.
One cat and one guinea pig were rescued and pet oxygen masks are being used on both animals.
Fire officials said 14 adults, one child, seven dogs, five cats, and one guinea pig in total were displaced by the fire.
