Man killed by freight train at Germantown MARC station

CSX doesn't move forward with new tunnel

GERMANTOWN, Md. (WMAR) — Montgomery County Police are investigating after a 60-year-old West Virginia man was struck and killed by a CSX freight train on Wednesday.

It happened around 6:30 p.m. at the Germantown Marc train station at 19301 Mateny Hill Road.

Police believe the victim was crossing the tracks at the platform when he was hit. The victim, Randolph Garth died on scene.

Garth was not a CSX employee according to officials.
