Frederick pediatrician accused of multiple sexual offenses out on $400,000 bail

FREDERICK, Md. — A Frederick pediatrician is out on bail after he was charged with additional sexual offenses following an initial charge relating to rape allegations.

According to the Frederick County State's Attorney's Office, 68-year-old Dr. Ernesto Torres appeared before a circuit court on Tuesday for a bond review regarding an indictment in 65 additional sex charges after 11 victims came forward accusing him of sexual offenses.

He was charged with nine counts of child sex abuse, 10 counts of sex abuse of a minor, 43 counts of third- degree sex offense, two counts of second-degree sex offense, and one count of second-degree assault.

The judge set a $400,000 bond with the the conditions of home detention, not to practice medicine until court proceeding determination, no contact with females under the age of 18, and to surrender his passport.

This is Dr. Torres second time posting bail. He was originally sited for $100,000 bail from his initial rape charge which resulted from an allegation made by an 18-year-old patient. That incident was presented to a Grand Jury, who charged Torres with second-degree rape, second-degree assault, and fourth-degree sex offense.
