CHARLES COUNTY, Md. (WMAR) — A former high school wrestling coach has been charged with sexual child abuse.

Charles County Sheriff's Deputies on Tuesday arrested George Andrew Taylor, 34, of Waldorf.

The alleged abuse happened in both Calvert and Charles Counties and was reported in December 2019.

Officials say the victim's family knew Taylor.

Most recently Taylor worked in the Calvert County Public Schools System. Then before that from 2014 to 2018, he was employed by Charles County Public Schools as a building worker inside John Hanson Middle and T.C. Martin Elementary Schools. Taylor also reportedly coached the junior varsity wrestling team at St. Charles High School.

Detectives are looking into whether Taylor committed any crimes involving students while working for the school systems.

According to Maryland court records, Taylor is being held without bail pending a February 5 preliminary hearing.
