FALLSTON, Md. — Discarded ashes led to a fire that destroyed a home in Fallston late Tuesday night, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office.

Just before 11:45 pm, a family member residing at a home in the 3400 block of Widows Care heard a loud noise.

They noticed a fire on the back porch that was rapidly spreading up the side of the house.

All five family members and two dogs living at the home made it out safely.

The fire caused an estimated $600,000 in damage.

The family's entire home, attached garage and vehicles were all lost in the fire.

It took about 90 minutes for 50 members of the Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company to put out the flames.
