BALTIMORE — A private, vacant building collapsed in the 1000 block of W Cross Street in Baltimore's Pigtown neighborhood.
Baltimore City Fire officials are on scene and there are no reports of injuries.
Four cars were damaged from the collapse.
The Mayor’s Office is also on the scene and is coordinating with the Housing Department and the Red Cross to provide support to the community. A building inspector is also present to assess the safety of nearby buildings.
Crews are on their way to clear the streets and sidewalks of debris. Any remaining portions of the structure that pose an imminent threat will be made safe, according to the Mayor's Office.
Additionally, the property will be fenced or blocked off to prevent access.
Work to fully remove the debris and complete any necessary demolition work may continue into Monday and when completed, the site will be filled, seeded and strawed.
There is no word yet on what caused the building to collapse.
