Baltimore Museum Of Art elects first black trustee chair

BALTIMORE — The Baltimore Museum Of Art has elected its first person of color to be the chair of its board of trustees.

James D. Thornton will be the museum’s 26th board chair. He joined the board back in 2004.

According to the BMA, he has led or participated in a number of committees.

In a statement, Thornton said he is committed to continuing to bring diverse work to the Baltimore Museum of Art.
