ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Annapolis Police are investigating a homicide where a teenager died on Sunday.

Police say shortly after midnight a call for shots fired brought police to the Harbor House community where they found a teenager with a gun shot wound. Police said the victim was flown to a local hospital trauma center for treatment, but he later died from his injuries.

A neighbor, who said she was the victim's cousin, identified the teenager shot as 16-year-old Elijah Wilson, of Annapolis.

"They actually took the soul of a man," said Daniel Lopez II. "You can't take that back...you can't take that back."

Lopez II has lived in the area for 40 years and says he won't let a terrible circumstance like this change his opinion of his home town.

"Well I still adore it because there are good people in this community, very good people," Lopez II said. "I mean you might have a scattered bunch that come around and do whatever they want."

Security cameras cover every angle of this play yard and police are going through surveillance video to look for clues. They ask anyone with information to call the investigating detective at 667-225-8151 or call police at 410-260-3439. Metro Crime Stoppers is offering a potential reward of up to $2,000 for information that could lead to an arrest or indictment. They can bre reached at 1-866-7LOCKUP.

While police continue to look for clues to who committed this homicide, Lopez wonders if there is a better way.

"You know, this is not necessary," Lopez said. "This is not necessary; we can do better than this."
