Maryland public schools are among the highest rated in the country, although they've fallen another spot this year, according to an "Education Week" report.
The national education newspaper released the rankings in its "Quality Counts" report this week, with Maryland taking the fourth spot behind Massachusetts, new Jersey and Vermont.

The state got a "B" for the second year in a row, dipping slightly lower than its third place ranking in 2015.
Maryland held the top spot from 2009 until 2013 when two categories were cut from consideration, according to a release from the state department of education.
