Study: Opioid prescriptions down 22% over last 5 years

Posted

A new study says opioid prescriptions are down 22% over the last five years.

The American Medical Association found there's around 55 million less prescriptions over that time.

From 2016-2017, there was a 9% decrease in prescriptions.

Researchers say increased use of state monitoring programs and increased access to naloxone contributed to the decrease.
