Report: U.S. not prepared to control diseases

Posted

The United States isn't prepared to stop the spread of certain diseases that are passed on by mosquitoes and ticks.

That's according to a new report from the National Association of County and City Health Officials.

Researchers found programs that are meant to control those diseases need improvement.

They also learned those programs often aren't well-funded and the people who run them aren't equipped for proper disease surveillance and prevention.
