You check a box on your driver's license, saying whether or not you want to be an organ donor.

Today Baltimore Ravens president Dick Cass, received a donate life champion award. The award is given to members of the athletic community from across the country who have inspired others to give the gifts of life, sight and mobility.

Cass is a kidney donor.

“He was a personal friend from law school days,” Cass said. “We were very good friends, and he didn't have a family member who was a good candidate for kidney donation so he had to reach out to friends…

“He's doing great. My friend leads a totally normal life. His prospects are as good as mine. He's in good shape. No reason to believe he's not going lead a long, healthy life

Today’s event was all part of the Donate Life America conference in Baltimore. More than 2,200 Maryland residents are waiting for a life-saving organ transplant.
