LAUREL, Md. (WMAR) — Police have arrested a 34-year-old Elkridge man for allegedly shooting a woman Sunday night in an elementary school parking lot.
Salvatore Sam Mancini is accused of shooting 38-year-old Amanda Cavin, in the parking lot of Laurel Woods Elementary School.
Howard County Police say Mancini and Cavin knew each other and were part of a large group that met at the lot for a remembrance ceremony not associated with the school.
It's unclear at this point what led to the shooting.
Cavin has since been released from Shock Trauma according to police.
Mancini is currently being held without bail on several charges including Attempted Second Degree Murder, Assault, and a firearms violation.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the District Court for Howard County.
