A police commander with the Aberdeen Police Department has been suspended for evidence tampering.

On August 2, 2017, officials at the police department started an investigation into alleged criminal misconduct by a member of the command staff.

Through the investigation, it was revealed that an 18-year veteran lieutenant had tampered with drug evidence. Their powers were suspended immediately.

APD Chief Henry Trabert requested the help of Maryland State Police to lead the criminal and administrative investigation.
