Cecil County babysitter faces child sex charges

Posted

She traveled from her home in Port Deposit to babysit a pair of boys in nearby Rising Son for eight years, but no one knew much about 32-year old Nichole Rodecker until allegations surfaced that she had molested a 9-year-old boy.

According to charging documents, Rodecker began babysitting the victim when he was four years old, bathing him until he was 10 and often spending the night in the home.

She told investigators everything started when she began allowing him to touch her because he was curious, but the victim told a very different story of forced abuse, which escalated when she performed oral sex on him and then engaged in sexual intercourse.

The young boy didn't know it was wrong until he took a health class at school.

"A young boy the age of nine learned about what improper touching was in school and felt safe enough to go home to his parents and talk about it and that's when investigators learned about it---when Mom called," said Elena Russo of the Maryland State Police.

People in the victim's small town are now left wondering why a woman would violate a family's trust, a young boy's innocence and the law with a child she was hired to protect.

Rodecker faces a series of charges including sex abuse of a minor and second-degree rape.

She was being held Friday at the Cecil County Detention Center on $200,000 bail.
