Shooter arrested two blocks from crime scene on Liberty Heights Avenue

Police arrested a Baltimore man in connection with a shooting on Liberty Heights Avenue early Wednesday morning.

At approximately 2:30 a.m., officers from Baltimore Police Department's Northwest District responded to the 2900 block of Liberty Heights Avenue for a report of a shooting. Once there, police found a 56-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the leg. The man was taken to an area hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening injury. 

Officers broadcast a description of the suspect over the air and were able to locate the shooter in the 3700 block of Liberty Heights Avenue with the handgun still in his possession. 

Mingo Watson, 37, of Baltimore, was transported to Central Booking Intake Facility, where he was charged with attempted first-degree murder.
