A woman was raped and shot behind a vacant house in west Baltimore Saturday night, police said.
Around 11 p.m. an officer was flagged down in the 1500 block of N. Carey Street by a man who was helping an injured woman.
The woman told police she had been raped and shot in the rear of a vacant building. She said she was walking down the block when she passed a man who doubled back behind her, put a hard object in her side and forced her behind a vacant house.
Police said the masked suspect raped and shot the victim. She was taken to an area hospital where she is in serious condition.
Detectives searched the area Sunday morning but were unable to locate witnesses or a crime scene.
