Baltimore Police held a news conference Monday afternoon regarding the latest update on Shaquana Caldwell, a missing woman who was found dead in Anne Arundel County in 2017.

Police arrested and charged her boyfriend, 51-year-old Taras Caldwell in connection to her death.

"Baltimore Police Department Detectives actually took the suspect to the location where she was left and he actually pointed out the location to collaborate what they had known, and he confessed to it," said T.J. Smith the Baltimore Police Department spokesperson. "On January 26th of 2018 just a couple of days ago Shaquana's death was ruled a homicide by asphyxiation."

According to officials, the couple were in some sort of argument when he murdered her inside of a home in Baltimore and later dumped her body in a wooded area in Anne Arundel County.

Officials say, Caldwell was already on parole for murdering another woman in 1998. They say he had served 17 years of a 30 year jail sentence.

"He's significantly older then her and he had served 17 years in prison for murdering another woman in the same manner basically," Smith said. "Certainly something of concern and fortunately we have him off the streets."

Taras Caldwell has been charged with First and Second Degree Murder for the death of Shaquana Caldwell.
