The father of a 2-year-old who died Sunday has been charged with first-  and second-degree murder, first-degree assault and child abuse, Baltimore Police said.

Michael Jennings is being held at Central Booking without bail for the death of his daughter, Katrina.

Her death was ruled a homicide after an autopsy due to multiple injuries to her head, scalp and neck.

Eastern District patrol units responded to the 500 block of East North Avenue around 3:15 p.m. Sunday for a report of a non-breathing baby girl. Officers found the girl lying on her back, unresponsive, in a rear bedroom.

Jennings was also in the rear bedroom of the home, which was unkempt and without electricity.

His daughter was transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

She had several scars and bruises on her face, and nurses said they had to change the victim's diaper because it was soiled.

Jennings admitted to detectives that he grabbed the victim around her neck aggressively.
