Baltimore murder victims between 20 and 55 years old ID'd

BALTIMORE — Baltimore Police have identified seven victims, ranging in age from 20 to 55, from a recent slate of violence early this month.

On May 1, police found 51-year-old Vernon Jacobs, of the 400 block of Maude Avenue, dead in the 3500 block of Helmstetter Street in Brooklyn. The original crime scene was thought to be in the 3500 block of 4th Street. Jacobs was the first homicide of May. Police also announced an arrest in Jacobs’ death, charging a 53-year-old Annapolis man in the crime.

Later that day, 20-year-old Dashawn Shelton, of the 1000 block of W. Fayette Street, was killed in the 100 block of S. Morley Street.

On May 3, Erskine Reed Jr., of the 2300 block of W. Patapsco Avenue, was killed while in the 3000 block of Hollins Ferry Road.

Two other men were killed on May 3, as well. Tyrone Johnson, 29, was killed in the 4000 block of Pennington Avenue. Then, 55-year-old John Holland Jr., of the unit block of Bernice Avenue, was killed in the 1400 block of Mosher Street.

On May 4, 35-year-old Larry Petway was killed in the 5100 block of Reisterstown Road.

Also that day, 44-year-old James Lomax, of the 900 block of Homestead Street, was killed in the 700 block of E. 20th Street.
