Baltimore Police arrested a 47-year-old man for assault following a police-involved shooting Monday night.

Jerome Clinton, 47, also faces gun and drug-related charges for the incident in the 1200 block of Poplar Grove Street, police said.

Police said they were approached at around 10:15 p.m. by a man who told them he had been assaulted with a pipe. He told police the assailant was inside his home.

When police entered the home to arrest Clinton, he pointed a handgun at officers. An officer fired at least one round in Clinton's direction. He wasn't hit, and was then arrested by officers.

The assault victim sustained injuries to his head and chest area. No officers were injured.

The handgun recovered from the suspect had been previously reported stolen. Officers also recovered drugs from the home.

Detectives from the police department's Homicide Unit and Special Investigations Response Team are investigating.

The officer involved in the shooting has been placed on routine administrative duties.
