Baltimore City Police were conducting proactive enforcement in the 3900 block of Belvieu Avenue Friday following a non-fatal shooting that took place on February 25.
At this time officers spotted a Pontiac Grand Am that was parked with two unknown men inside.
Police believed the men were participating in illegal narcotic activity.
Officers pulled up behind the suspects and activated their emergency lights as the suspects attempted to drive away.
The suspects stopped the vehicle and officers observed the front passenger clutching his waistband.
Upon a search the officers recovered a loaded 9mm handgun.
The suspect 39-year-old John Kidwell was transported to Central Booking Intake Facility and has been charged with various handgun violations.
