Two assaulted in Annapolis parking garage

A man and woman were assaulted in an Anne Arundel County parking garage Monday morning, police said.

The victims were in a garage in the 1900 block of McGuckian St. in Annapolis, Md., when a man, Alkein Matthews, 28, of Glen Burnie, Md., approached and pointed a handgun at them. 

The male victim fled, but the woman had some property destroyed as she as assaulted by Matthews. It was determined both victims knew Matthews. 

Officers saw Matthews fleeing the area in a vehicle and stopped him on Forest Drive. He was arrested with a loaded handgun in his waistband, a vial of PCP in his pocket, and $500 cash. Matthews was charged with first-degree assault, possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute and 16 other charges. He is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center without bond.
